Have you ever looked down at your bare knees and wondered, How did I end up with elephant knees? I did. I was horrified.
I’ve heard that women (and men) will stop wearing clothing that show their knees.
Is this true?
For me, I will probably wear a mini-skirt to my own funeral, so I kicked into research mode. I looked at surgical options (knee tucks anyone?), micro-current solutions (I’m impatient), micro-needling , compression tights (if I flatten the wrinkles, they’ll look better, right?)…I even pondered for a moment if I could just “bend them less”. Silly.
Then I saw this video from one of my favorite YouTubers (Angie from Hot and Flashy). She did a six month side-by-side review of glycolic creams and specifically compared knees. The results were visible.
Despite the results she showed, I was skeptical. But I postponed the micro-needling appointment and decided to invest in a simple bottle of lotion. No joke…after a week I cancelled my appointment. After a month, I realized it wasn’t an issue any more. Two years later – short skirts and shorts are back in my vocabulary!
What IS Glycolic Acid or Glycolic cream?
It is a skin exfoliator which “unglues” dead skin cells from one another. It sounds gross, but it essentially gets rid of old dead skin to reveal newer, fresher, YOUNGER skin. Don’t think scary chemical peel. Acid refers to the pH of the solution. As always, patch test before you commit to your whole body. While glycolic acid can be used safely on your face, you really want to watch concentrations, so for now, just use this on your body!
The two that I love are Alpha Skin Care Body Renewal Lotion [affiliate link] and Donell AHA 20 Face and Body Care Exfoliating Body Moisturizer Body Tingle [affiliate link]. Alpha Skin Care has 12% gylcolic acid and is where I started, just to make sure my skin wasn’t too sensitive. Once I finished it, I tried out the Donell Body Tingle at my friend’s suggestion (go check out here site at www.sochickie.com!)
If you feel uncomfortable with crepey skin or sagging knees, you can seriously just apply some lotion, the right lotion. Whatcha waiting for?!
