Stick to Your Diet – Travel Edition

Stick To Your Diet

I enjoy experimenting with different diets and trends. I go into them understanding it’s a trend, an experiment. Of course, the best “diet” is not one that’s restrictive but one that becomes second nature…habit.

That said, when I commit to trying something out, I like to really commit. I also really like to travel. So I’m always on the look out for a good little something or other to keep me healthy on my adventure.

Right now I’m exploring Alternating Day Fasting (ADF). I’m reading the books, deep diving the web, joining forums, and checking it out for myself. I was feeling sluggish this year, and my body just wants different things as it grows wiser. After a juice/smoothie cleanse (which turned into a great love) I stumbled onto ADF.

I promise I’ll follow up with a pros/cons list.

So I’m a couple of weeks in and so far so good. On my “fast day”, I actually still consume calories to support my exercise routine and my blood sugar. I find that juices and protein shakes, especially when I travel, are easier to do than try to eat off a menu at some restaurant.

The biggest challenge is The Blend.

Enter this handy little item…a Travel Whisk (battery operated) [affiliate link]. It’s sold as a milk frother, but I’m also off coffee this year, so for me, it’s a quick whisk for my protein powder.

It might seem like a small thing, but it relieves one point of stress for me when I travel. (My favorite travel app Packing Pro – is my number one stress reliever!)

I also recommend traveling with a water bottle. Sure, you can get bottled water nearly everywhere, but if you take a reusable bottle with you, you can fill them for free at most airports and save yourself some money.

Bonus: You come off as the suave and savvy global citizen that you are – and that’s very hip and cool!
